A very broken nights sleep as being on the main Eyre Highway meant the road trains rolled past noisily all night long. Plus the neighbours obviously wanted to get going early, slamming doors and using microwaves just after dawn. On the road by 9, I thank JK Rowling & Stephen Fry for Harry Potter which we listened to raptly until 2pm. Then a couple more hours of watching the landscape alternate between lovely green crops, grazing sheep and areas of yellow soils sparsely covered in some kind of small blue native bush. Again the areas of natural vegetation do not inspire me to accept that the area can support such intensive cropping or animal grazing. Windmills are everywhere obviously due to the lack of surface water, I bet salinity is a problem here too.
After a full day in the car we were glad to finally stop just after Renmark, choosing to stay at a small park, 8km up the road instead of the Renmark Big 4 which wanted $50/night! Another Harry Potter Disc after dinner and we are all asleep by 9pm.
