Tue 1st July – Day 52: Abel Point Marina – Stonehaven Bay

Tue 1st July – Day 52: Abel Point Marina – Stonehaven Bay
Up early to get gear to boats by 8 for our 9am briefing. Supply lists as follows:
• 5 boats (4 sailing catamarans, 1 power catamaran)
• 10 families – Mellowes, Piggots, Hardies, Blakes, Wilsons, Patons, Martyns, Groats, Alpens & Winders.
• 25 kids – youngest 5, oldest 14.
• 19 adults – all really kids at heart
• Navy, Red, White, Black & Blue team colours – hats & shirts for all.
• First Fleet – HMS Sirius, Alexander, Friendship, Fishburn and Prince of Wales.
• Gourmet catering for all – I have counted ‘On the Double’ because they had some truly forgettable cask goon and much gourmet bread!
• Enough alcohol to stock our own island bars
• Paddle boards, snorkel sets, fishing gear galore
• Everyone brought their cossies, what more did we need?

Set sail around midday for our 12-day odyssey around the local islands. Much wildlife seen – turtles, dolphins, tropical fish, birds of prey. Much food and drink consumed, some exercise part-taken – swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, walking & sailing; more alcohol consumed, more food consumed, no fish caught except by little people who rubbed adult noses in it big time – so much for all the gear!
Needless to say there were many photos taken, many more censored in the cold light of day, lots of stories told and many laughs had by all.
A wonderful holiday with a great bunch of alco’s – are we all going again in 2 years time? Count in the Wilson’s...
