Washing Day! Not much can be said for this day – I managed 6 loads of washing and removed untold vacuum canister loads of dust from the van. The cutlery is no longer swimming around in a layer of silt; everything is now clean, ready to be dirtied again!
Pete tackled the phones and tried unsuccessfully to locate either a refrigeration expert or an auto-electrician. Given it’s a public holiday weekend, I wasn’t surprised, it looks like we are stuck here until Tuesday.
We head to town for a major re-stock, but have to be cognisant of the fact we only have our Waeco and 10tonne of meat just won’t fit! Nothing but the bakery and Woolworths is open so we down pies and donuts for lunch and manage to lay $300 across the counter of Woolworths (and that’s without meat!).
The kids were wonderful and managed to keep themselves entertained for the majority. As the thermometer pushed towards 35°C in the late afternoon Pete took them cycling about 3km down the road to Katherine Springs. Another fresh water underground spring that bubbles out of the earth at a constant 32°C. Apparently there were as many locals as tourists there enjoying the safe, cooling waters.
