A full pancake breakfast for the kids once again as they are now addicted to them and it takes about 2 hours to have breakfast, which suits them fine (they will do anything to avoid school work!)
Pete took the car off to our ARB mates for a new aerial fitting and since the Distance Education pack has been lost in transit we have nothing to do but update the journals that the kids have until now been pretty slack about. However they gave them a great go today and even managed to illustrate quite a few days with pictures from many of the brochures we have picked up along the way.
I spent the entire day holed up on the computer trying to settle accounts and move cash around so mortgages and trip could still be completed – thank god for the internet is all I can say.
Pete and Toby had much needed hair cuts and Chloe and I did a little more retail therapy buying special things like clear nail polish, a pretty dress for Chloe and moisturiser – boring I know but to us it was luxury!
Pete completed his David Attenborough observation today. For days he has been witnessing a great migration of the local species [read townies] to the local waterholes [bottle shop]. It has become apparent that the migration starts at around 1pm and that the species are located within 1 hour of the waterholes that dot Alice Springs as they open for business at 2pm. For around an hour they mill around and try and find a family member who has managed to bypass the licence scanning beast to share in the spoils that are contained in a VB 30 mega pack. By 4pm the waterholes are deserted, however at dusk [around 6pm] the second, and now VB charged wave arrives looking for the juice from the box. 6pm is open season for cask wine; and there is plenty of prey today. This phenomenon sadly goes on day after day….
