If ever you want to go see a really great zoo then this is the one to go to. Set at the foot of the West MacDonnell ranges this park takes you through the 4 major zones in central Australia from the mountain ranges, sand country, river plains and the mulga country at the base of the ranges. Each area has it’s own special plants and animals and a day here was well worth the effort. We enjoyed it so much we spent almost all day there. There was a final custom movie that was made for the Park that described the heritage and evolution of the surrounding environment. The culmination, as it reached modern day in the story, was the massive 3 storey screen descending into the floor revealing a plate glass window and the actual [same as in the movie] landscape just outside. VERY impressive, even for the Pete ‘Events’ Wilson.
Ian & Debbie joined us for ‘happy hour’ in the late afternoon and then Pete who was obviously in need of a sport fix stayed up to watch a very scratchy State of Origin where Qld thrashed us 18-0!
