Up at 7am and realised the sun had already risen, somehow I think we may have changed time zones again as around Uluru the sun was rising around 7:30. This was confirmed later in the car listening to the local ABC station. A bet was on as to when we would see the first car past and were disappointed when at 9 the first 4WD sped past. Schoolwork done we packed up as the wind rose and the flies returned with a vengeance – better to be in the car now.
Well they warned us the road would turn to crap once we entered Qld but we didn’t realise just how bad it would be. Talk about about bulldust, potholes, corrugations, rocks, you name it we drove over it! We finally hit the bitumen albeit 1 lane bitumen about 8k’s out and that was the most comfortable we have been all day.
Boulia caravan park on the banks of the Burke River which to our great disappointment was totally dry (we had visions of fish for dinner). The kids quickly found the only kids in the joint and were happy foraging along the river bed until dark. Some cheeky cattle and a couple of brolga’s snuck in around dusk to graze on the only green for miles around.
The owner turned up to collect the money ($30/night must be the most expensive caravan park we have been to for what we got!). She looked at me like I had 2 heads when I said hubby was down the road at the hardware store getting another tap connection (as we left our last one at Gemtree!) and he had all the wallets in the car – so much for friendly townfolk.

Delighted to hear that the trip is going well, despite bits falling off - shades of Africa and their roads. We definitely won't be taking the new X3 beemer that away.
All well in the Eyrie Paradise; Gamin Sou seems to be doing well - perhaps he needs to assist in the navigation stakes.
Clip Clop Chloe might like to know a TV crew was up here last week taking pics of Bindi from Aussie Zoo riding around our paddock near the old fig tree.
