Sat May 10th – Day 2 - 4WD Course with Get About Tours

Well it took us 70min to set up last night, we made our first caravan park mistake and backed the trailer (albeit perfectly) onto the concrete slab (well it would have been lovely and level!) only to get out and look around and notice everyone else parks next to the slab…..Ooops!

We collapsed into bed about 9:30 but sadly sleep alluded me and I tossed and turned most of the night – the sheer exhaustion of this endeavour is finally taking its’ toll.

Up bright and early to meet Scruffy & his better half ‘Sam’ in their Hilux at Freeman’s Crossing servo! 2 other intrepid Prado’s joined us for a fully ‘Toyota’ day! We only travelled about 1km up the road into a purpose built 4WD training area -> from here we mastered river crossings, bog recoveries, v steep slopes (I never thought a car was supposed to go - either up or down!), bush toilets, you name it we did it. A red belly black snake even joined in the excitement.

We arrived back at Wangi absolutely exhausted but on a natural high with our 4WD certificates in hand. Shovelled pasta (courtesy of Grandma Nola) into all of us and we collapsed into bed again.

‘Wangi Point Lakeside Caravan Park’ (Power $25/night)
