Tues 13th May – Day 5 - Western Plains Zoo

Only took an hr to set up last night, absolutely freeing too – Toby actually pulled out the heater, even Pete complained and he runs hotter than most. I was organised yesturday and did ‘Coca Cola chicken legs in the Dream Pot’ so dinner was easily dispached with mashed potatoes and vegies. Another late start to find the police at the next door neighbour, who had been broken into during the night, kids had scaled the 2m high fences and taken all their valuables from their unlocked car while they slept right next door in their van. A shame, but Dubbo & the park itself had signs everywhere warning about locking up your valuables. Such a beautiful town with a sinister air at night. Anyway school work done, we jumped on the bikes and headed for Western Plains Zoo, by the time we got there about a 1km cycle along a purpose built track, Chloe was already starting to complain so we did the sensible thing and hired a golf buggy for the afternoon. We all loved the zoo, the Cheetah was especially regal and the Otters kept us entertained. There was hardly anyone else about so we headed home about 4:30 with the circuit complete.
