My turn this morning to get up early and take a stroll along Cable beach. Miles and miles of sand, clear waters and little or no swell – beautiful sure, but the lack of surf seems strange to us easterners.
School again this morning but sitting on picnic tables beside the pool wasn’t a bad way to spend a couple of hours, plus recess was a quick dip.
Pete went off to the local camping store today to pick up our replacement Coleman camp stove that packed it in along the Gibb. Then onto the ARB rep for some more bolts for the bumper bar which was hanging on by one bolt only – no wondered it rattled so!! Pete also tracked down the local auto store to replace the air compressor that packed up yesterday after about 3 uses. Pete playing mechanic and completely dismantled it bolt by bolt only to find that the conrod had sheered in half. A call to the manufacturer resulted in him offering to replace it, but how would we get it all the way from Sydney? Having now experienced trying to move things around the country we quickly decided we will deal with it when we get back. Meanwhile I stocked up on supplies at the local Woolies and grabbed 2 x $10 boogie boards for our trip North.
No stay in Broome is complete unless you take your car onto Cable Beach to watch the Camel Rides and the Sunset. So we joined the other 100 or so cars lining the North side of the beach and cracked open some nibbles and beers to enjoy the serenity! The kids grabbed out their kites and we sat back to watch the sun sink over the ocean. Dinner tonight was a repeat of yesterday - Takeaway fish ‘N’ chips this time down by the dunes rounded off our day.
